Masking issues and cheap spray can
The last days of the holiday season flew by like a Zeta Plus Hummingbird and before knowing it I was back in the capital and didn't manage to complete the spray-paint work.
So lets report on the small progress I made in these days. I first primed the GM Command with all-purpose primer after sanding everything, cleaning in soapy water and rinsing with tap water. Everything looked fine after that (see picture below).
So I continued on my digital cammu concept and started masking rectangle shapes with Tamiya's masking tape and sprayed white and red on top. Still fine. The masking process was quite fun (with the right BGM)...
But when I peeled the tape off the horror began. The tape took all paint layers away at some spots. I did everything on the plastic surface to prevent that (sanded, cleaned, only touched it with gloves...) so I guess either there is something going on with the tab water on my parents place or the primer sucks. Well...I've to find a way to fix the spots...Again...like on my Whitebase (Though I didn't use primer at that kit)...damn...Next time I'll use proper primer and I'll see how that works.
Other than that and the bleeding I kind of like the result. The colors don't match that well but from my work on the Todvierres I know that this is kind of fixable with a finishing wash (perhaps a yellow or blue tone...dark pink comes as a crazy idea to my over-tired mind right now).
I wish all of you a great new year!
Please leave a comment (tips, rants, complaints...it's all up to you XD)
